Lelamas is one of melanau's  exotic foods. It's actually a caterpillar that harvested from nyatoh tree. Nowadays, it's price hit rm500 per/kg. And might be rising along the 'lelamas'  season.

Learn Melanau Language

Melanau is one of the ethnic from Sarawak. Melanau language has many version. The one that i'm going to share to you is Melanau Dalat version. Let's learn some basic words/sentences of Melanau.

Dalat

Me/ I am = ako 

You/your = kaau

What is your name = sai ngadan kaau

My name is Fafa(for example)  = ngadan ako Fafa

What are you doing? = no nak kaau?

I'm eating = ako agei keman

Do you love/like me? = kaau suka gak ako? 

I love/like you = ako suka gak kaau 

Good morning = selamat bah awel

Good afternoon = selamat tengah lau 

Do you want to drink some water? = kaau luk tuteng anum? 

I want some plain water = ako luk anum matai

I'm starving = ako lukuh

Melanau language is not a very hard language to learn. Estimated, you will be able to understand Melanau language itself if you live in the community for about 6 months. If you want to be able to speak, so learn! Good luck 🍀!
